The global English football star, Steven Gerrard could be put in prison for up to five years if he is found guilty of assault in Liverpool earlier this week. The alleged assault was bought up from by a disturbance at a Merseyside nightclub on December 26th. Steven Gerrard has played for Liverpool for the last ten years and in all fairness similar accusations regularly pop up around famous football stars as they are constantly in the lime light with the public. The Football Association in the UK said it would not be making any comment on the situation regarding Steven Gerrard and his position in the England squad was not under question. The FA added that players will continue to be considered for playing for their national team while police investigations are being processed.
Steven Gerrard has been capped by England 70 times and has captained his country four times which is an incredible professional football achievement. He was made an MBE last year and received an honorary fellowship from Liverpool John Moores University. There is no doubt that he is one of the best footballers this country has seen and to think that he may spend time in a local prison is almost impossible to believe. We will simply have to wait and see the outcome yet it not un-heard of that global stars such as, Steven Gerrard always get accused of things like this when in actual fact they are not true what so ever!
